Yucca Valley Equestrian Center offers beginning to advanced
lessons in Western and English disciplines, including jumping. Dressage
is taught through Second level.
Beginning lessons are designed for the horse lover who wants to learn the basics. Lessons begin with leading, grooming and “tacking up” (saddling & bridling). Riders learn to walk, jog/trot, and lope/canter, and negotiate ground poles. We also take short trail rides. Our lessons are very helpful for the first time horse owner.
Intermediate and Advanced riders develop the skills to do lateral movements, backing, turn on the haunches, turn on the forehand, lead changes, and other basics of body control. English riders work over raised trot poles and jumps if desired. Western riders work on turn arounds and collected sliding stops, and begin reining patterns if desired. All riders have the opportunity to practice simple trail obstacles, such as opening and closing gates from horseback, crossing bridges, and dragging small logs. We also do more advanced trail rides.
Dressage and Western Dressage lessons are taught
from Intro to Second Level. Our lessons emphasize harmony between horse
and rider in correct and classical style.
Lessons are $60.00 per
hour using one of our horses or yours. Helmets must be worn by all
students 18 years or younger. We have helmets for those who need them. Call to set up you lesson: 760-365-4433
